About this event

Are you a creative social impact practitioner who likes brainstorming challenges? We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on the first Social Impact Assessment (SIA) for a polymetallic nodule project in international waters. Nauru Ocean Resources Inc. (NORI) plans to mine polymetallic nodules containing battery metals (Nickel, Copper, Cobalt and Manganese) at a depth of over 4,000m in the Pacific Ocean. Unique attributes, including being located 1,600km to the nearest populated landmass, raise interesting challenges for an SIA. Join us for strong coffee, pastries and robust discussions on Thursday, May 5, from 7:30-8:45 am. Presenters will include Mr. Corey McLachlan, NORI and Mr. Mehrdad Nazari, NORI-D SIA Team Leader, Prizma.

Coffee/tea/juice and a light breakfast to be served. Space is limited.

*This event is not affiliated with or sponsored by the IAIA conference*
