About this event
There are two species of turkeys found in Utah. The most common species that Utah residents encounter are the Rio Grande and the Merriam wild turkey. Learn about the history and the tremendous efforts of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the many local volunteers, to enhance wild turkey populations in the state of Utah. Have you ever wondered about the vocalizations of the wild turkey, where turkeys can be found throughout the year, how do you tell the Tom turkey from the hen? Come and learn the answers to these questions and many more. The workshop will focus on the turkey species found in Utah, turkey vocalization, conservation efforts and hunting techniques. Also, you will have the opportunity to create your very own turkey craft out of a variety of materials while learning more about these amazing birds. All craft materials will be provided.
Matt Leonard is a National Wildlife Turkey Federation volunteer and will present the workshop. Sheri Sturdevant is the volunteer Artist in Residence at the Eccles Wildlife Education Center. She is a retired art teacher and prolific artist with a passion for the natural world.
