Event description

Description

Are your classroom electronics, digifab tech, and other learning tools – you know, your stuff – starting to collect a little dust? Whether it’s old stuff (we see you, screen projector), new stuff (and you, 3D printer), or stuff you’ve been stuck with, What Do I Do With This Stuff? is here to help!

Join us to learn how to better use your modern stuff or repurpose your old stuff. You’ll be able to:

  • Learn from our expert makers and swap stuff tips with fellow classroom teachers and educators.
  • Bring your new stuff, to learn new ways to integrate modern tools and tech into your classroom and learners’ experience.
  • Bring your old stuff, to learn how it can be repurposed into a new project or tool. (Bonus points if you let take it apart on the spot!)

Expert Maker Panel

Panelists will share words of maker wisdom with the group and be available for one-on-one consults (pre-registration required and one piece of stuff per person, please):

  • Val Paulisick – Recyclables and Making
  • Nina Barbuto – Recyclables and Making
  • John Balash – Computer-based and other Electronics
  • Liz Whitewolf – Digital Fabrication
  • Rebecca Grabman – Sewing and Textiles

Bring Your Stuff & Meet With A Maker

Bring your tool or tech with you (or a photo) and meet with an expert one-on-one. They will:

  • Give tips and best practices for working with electronics in your classroom or community context
  • Help brainstorm ways to use your new or current stuff with learners
  • Offer ideas for reusing your old stuff through disassembling and repurposing components

One-on-one time with experts is limited. Be sure to include details about your stuff and preferred expert when registering on Eventbrite.

Drink, Snack & Network

There will be time to share, discuss, and build with other educators from around the region, while enjoying some apps and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Planning to bring some old stuff we can disassemble and have fun with? You’ll get a free drink ticket (and a gold star)! We will have space and time for tinkering and tool swapping during consulting times.

Parking & Accessibility

Parking lots are located adjacent to CMP; a smaller one next to the Backyard and a larger one that is highlighted by the Al Mo Oh sculpture of three "flying" bass fish.

Please email Allie (allie@remakelearning.org) if you have any questions or are unable to attend after registering.
