Description

Ever wonder how admission officers review college applications? What are the criteria they look for and are they similar at both small colleges and large universities? Is there a standard rubric or system to the admissions process? What can students do to make themselves more advantageous to the process?

In this presentation, What College Admissions Officers Look For When Reviewing Applications, Susanna Ordway will lift the college admissions curtains and give high school students and their parents a look at the reviewing processes from the college side. She will demystify what application reviewers look for at various colleges and universities and explain the three main types of admissions processes, and how students should approach each.

Susanna Ordway is an independent educational consultant in the San Ramon Valley helping students and their parents navigate the ever complex college planning and admissions process. Her background in education includes being a K-12 teacher of fine and applied arts integrated with STEM concepts and practices in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and the City of San Ramon enrichment programs. She's also a parent of two Cal High alums. She earned her certificate from UC Berkeley in their College Admission and Career Planning program and holds a BA from Pomona College and a MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management (part of Arizona State University).
