Comorbidity theories and risk in the dually diagnosed is a discussion that often ends up in camps on both discussion. However, an analysis of 83.9 million people and years of data suggest that diagnosis with a primary mental health disorder increases risk of a subsequent disorder by 2 to 48 fold. Addiction work consistency is considered separate from mental health work. Data suggests that our work is a shared process. It is imperative that theories that contribute to addiction and mental health disorders become a shared process to better understand the shared risk architecture in order to treat the whole person. This training is a unique opportunity to learn, develop, and share skillsets with helpers from various clinical worlds such as counseling, social work, addiction, and marriage and family. This training discusses the systemic web approach to addiction that has bidirectional influences in mental health issues a client is predisposed to or experiencing.
