  • Who are the DREAMers? Are they DACA recipients?
  • What is TPS?
  • How are changes to Immigration policy affecting our community?

We will discuss how immigrants with and without status - Dreamers, people with Temporary Protected Status, Refugees - in our communities are faring under the Trump Administration.

Join us for a lively discussion led by five powerful Bay Area voices, each with a unique perspective from the Immigrant Rights Movement:

Hana Baba, News Reporter and Host at KALW - Hana is a reporter and host of Crosscurrents, KALW’s evening news magazine, and of The Stoop, a podcast that airs conversations about black identity. She interviews and reports on ethnic communities, poverty, health, religion, arts and the global nature of the SF Bay Area, and has appeared on numerous NPR programs. A Sudanese American, she covers stories across the breadth of & depth of our community.

Sarahi Caamal, Advocate - Sarahi’s experiences as a DACA recipient, student, and leader in the Young Dems of Alameda County have given her a unique perspective on politics, promises and the pitfalls of DACA. Sarahi is currently employed with an Immigration Law firm in Oakland while working to get her law degree. Sarahi advocates on issues of social and economic justice, including Immigration.

Anne H. Harrison, Attorney at Law and Founder of the Harrison De la Cruz Law Office - Anne specializes in Immigration and Citizenship law and has been a frequent presenter to law conferences, advocacy events and the UC Berkeley Law School. She served on the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the North Bay, works closely with the Mexican and Peruvian Embassies and is passionate about her work on behalf of the Immigrant community.

Ariadna Manzo, President of the Association of Students, San Jose State University - Ariadna is a fourth year Political Science major with a passion for social justice, equity and inclusion. Ariadna has served as the Director of SJSU Intercultural Affairs, a leader in SJSU MEChA, and is an active leader in the fight for Immigrant Rights. She grew up in Adelanto, CA.

Martha Kreeger, Panel Moderator - Martha is a Grassroots Organizer for several progressive organizations, including Organizing For Action (OFA) ,and has been a leader on Immigration Issues and social and economic justice issues.She serves on OFA’s National Immigration Working Group and advocates for inclusion and safety for all immigrants and allies, among other issues.
