What to bring: Textbook, pencil, hand lens (approximately 10x), daypack, water, sack lunch, snack, rain gear, sun and wind protection, personal items you will need on the trail where there are no restrooms, etc. As we will be in and around water, remember to bring the bug spray and sun screen. The textbook and hand lens can be purchased through the Colorado Native Plant Society at www.conps.org/Bookstore or any on-line or local area bookstore or scientific supply store.
What to wear: Layered clothing for changing and/or severe weather conditions and a hat for sun protection. A layer of long pant/long sleeves may be advisable for mosquitoes at times. Wear secure footwear that can potentially get wet or muddy in or next to wetland areas: hiking shoes, waterproof boots or old tennis shoes are best; rubber boots or waders are not necessary. Some students have elected to carry sport sandals or secure watershoes (not flipflops or crocs) for an occasional optional foray into water, but wetlands are accessed by walking off-trail in upland vegegation so they are not appropriate for full-time wear. Please come prepared for moderately strenuous walking on hot, cold, windy, rainy or snowy days.
