Join the Preservation Alliance of West Virginia in celebrating the people making positive changes to their communities through historic preservation.
This year's West Virginia Historic Preservation Awards Banquet will be held at the Clingman Center, a charming barn-esque venue (pictured below) in Lewisburg, West Virginia on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
Whether you are a preservationist, an aspiring preservationist, or a supporter - all are invited to attend this annual event to celebrate this year's best preservation stories and successes in the Mountain State.
All proceeds from this event, including raffle and silent auction, support PAWV's up-and-coming West Virginia Historic Preservation Training Center at Arthurdale. The new center will bring historic trades programming to West Virginians to expand the number of tradespeople able to perform maintenance and repairs to our state's historic buildings.
Schedule:
12:00-1:30 West Virginia Association of Museums (WVAM) regional meet-up. All are welcome to attend.
1:30-3:30 The Greenbrier Historical Society will provide a two optional tours at this time: a) the 1834 North House Law Library also known as the Pink Library (a PAWV Saving Historic Places Grant recipient) and enslaved quarters, 'Rhoda's House' or b) Montwell Commons, the former industrial center of historic Lewisburg. The third tour during this time is a walking tour of preservation projects and methodologies used in downtown Lewisburg by a Preservation Expert and 2023 award winner. This portion of the banquet events is entirely optional, but we wouldn't want to miss it!
4:30-8:30 Silent auction begins, along with hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour (cash bar), followed by dinner, awards program, and raffle.
Dinner includes:
- Salad course: Tossed greens and vegetable salad with orange vinaigrette.
- Mains: Choice of roasted beef tenderloin medallions with wild mushroom sauce, new potatoes, and steamed broccoli; or seared salmon filet seasoned with lemon, black pepper, shallot and white wine, basmati rice and steamed broccoli; or roasted vegetable stew with yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, peppers, garlic, tomatoes on creamy polenta, and artisanal breads.
- Dessert: Key lime pie or chocolate cream pie.
Choose your ticket level based on how much support you would like to contribute towards PAWV's mission.
Students, volunteers, and those who would like to attend but could not otherwise pay the full ticket price are invited to email info@pawv.org for a promo code.
