Deadline Extended!  Roster spots available!

On Nov 13th, 2009 over 700 West Texas Alumni Football players packed the MCM Grande in Odessa.  We apologize to the 40+ players who couldn't make it into the room because it was so packed.  We extended the deadline until Dec 6th for the teams that did not have 40 guys pay.  After Dec 6th, we may "cut" teams that didn't have enough guys pay and refund their money.  Teams will not be cut if they have 25+ guys paid by then.  SO, DO NOT LET YOUR TEAM DOWN!  YOUR TEAM MAY NOT GET TO PLAY IF NOT ENOUGH GUYS PAY!

If you want to play:
1.  Purchase a ticket above for the appropriate team if spots still available.  Do this even if you signed up before, but did not pay.
2.  Review Player FAQ's below.
3.  Plan to attend the 2nd practice listed below.
4.  We'll email you a roster of your team after you sign up.

Player FAQ's:

1.  Do I have to go to the team meeting?  As long as we receive payment by the team meeting as described above, you do not have to attend, but we'd certainly like you there - and we may want your input on things if certain issues need to be discussed.
2.  I live out of town, don't know any of the other players, cannot attend the team meeting, but I want to play.  What should I do?  Mail a check made out to "AA USA" to attn: TIm Bishop 5000 Mission Oaks Blvd #12 Austin, TX 78735 postmarked by Nov 7th AND call Tim at 512.771.5561 to let him know.  You will not be penalized in any way.
3.  My team sold out, but I want to play.  What should I do?  First, put your name on waiting list above.  Second, either attend the team meeting for give you check to someone who will with your name, school, and graduation year written on the memo.  We will then do our best to figure out a fair solution.  There are too many alternatives to mention here - or discuss individually.  We will decide at the team meeting.
4.  Who will coach?  You will likely coach yourselves.  We'll go over this at the team meeting.
5.  How many times do we practice?  We suggest practicing five (5) times.
6   Do we practice without pads?  Yes.
7.  When is the first practice?  * First two practices scheduled below!*
8.  How do we get the equipment?  We provide you with all the football pads/gear you'll need (except for spikes) the day of the game.  Most players come a little early and take their time getting suited up.
9.  What about jerseys?  We have "generic looking" jerseys in about 10 colors and will try to match up your school colors as best as possible.  Most teams just use our jerseys.  Some teams are ordering jerseys on their own and some will borrow from the school.  You can discuss this at the team meeting.
10.  Are practices mandatory?  No.  Just do your best to try to make them.
11.  I live out of town and can't make any of the practices.  Can I still play?  Yes.  We'll ask the team captains to work wtih you on this.
12.  What is the date and time of my game?  Games are tentatively scheduled for Jan 2010.  Depending on the situation, we may not schedule your game until Nov or Dec because we're also watching various factors develop such as which teams are forming, stadium selection, etc.  We'll talk more about this at the team meeting.
13.  Are we guaranteed to play the team we're matched up with?  No, some teams do not form for example.
14.  What about safety?  This is play at your own risk.  Thousands of people get hurt and injured playing football each year.  You can get head, neck, spinal injuries, etc to just name a few.  Some people have died from playing football.  We had a high school football player in Austin whose heart stopped beating during a game-and he was just in high school.  And if you haven't played in a while, these risks will even be higher.  You should get checked out by your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to play.  If you have not been physically active for awhile or are over weight, you should be especially careful.  Playing in a  football game again will no doubt be very exciting, but just make that your heart is healthy enough to handle it.  Again, we suggest getting checked out by your doctor.  Also, we do not provide health insurance.  We do not recommend that you play if you do not have health insurance.  You are more than welcome to coach and help out and still be a part of the team.
15.  Who are you guys?  We're football coaches, players, ex coaches, etc who just want to give everyone the opportunity to play in one more football game.  Tim Bishop resides in Austin, TX , attended grad school at The University of Texas at Austin and is the West Texas Alumni Games Director.  Bob Cazet resides in Santa Rosa, CA and is President of Alumni Football USA.  We look forward to meeting you at the team meeting.
16.  Who can play?  All graduates of the school can play.  You did not have to have played football in high school to play?
17.  Can I still play on a certain team event if I did not graduate from that school?  No.  You must be an alumni to play for a certain team.  We only make exceptions if you spent at least two years at a the school you want to play for, but did not graduate there for whatever reasons.
18.  My school is not listed, can I still play?  Email the name of your school and who you would want to play to alumnigames@gmail.com.  We will review all emails on Dec 15th and will post group "B" matchups by Dec 20th.  Group B games to be played in Feb to Apr.  Feel free to all us on Dec 15th to discuss.
19.  What happens if the team we're matched up with does not get enough guys?  We will look at who pays at the team meeting and then decide what do do.  There are way to many scenarios to discuss individually before then.  We'll find someone to play you if that happens.
20.  Can the teams decide to change the first two practice times?   Your team cannot change the first practice time.  Please try hard to keep the second practice time.
21.  Is my $75 refundable after I pay?  From time to time, we'll consider refunds IF your team has over 40 guys, the situation is exentuating, and you have someone to "take your place."
22.  What is the overall level of play?  Every game is different, but most games are competive and hard hitting.  These games often attract the more athletic guys from various years.
23.  Can I pay at practice?  Yes IF YOUR ROSTER DOES NOT FILL UP BEFORE THEN.  Just bring your money ($75) then.
24.  I pre-registered before, but did not pay.  Should I sign up again on this website?  Yes, you should click on the appropriate team above, answer the same set of questions you did before, and then pay right here online.
