Mission
To improve the lives of veterans, their families, and anyone that served in the Armed Forces by connecting them to all available services and resources throughout West Michigan.

About
The West Michigan Veterans Coalition is a community integrated system offering support services, resources, and programs to veterans and their families. Our role is to offer a comprehensive network of service providers, empowered with knowledge, information, and tools to effectively connect veterans to the appropriate resources to help facilitate assistance in education, employment, healthcare, and quality of life.

VCAT/MyVA CVEB
In 2013, the West Michigan Veterans Coalition was selected by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency to implement a no-wrong-door collaborative Veteran Community Action Team (VCAT). The model is designed to enhance the delivery of services from public, private, and nonprofit organizations to veterans and their family members. In 2015, the WMVC was also selected to be a part of the MyVA Community Veterans Engagement Board initiative. The MyVA Communities model enables Veteran advocates, service providers, Veterans, and stakeholders to have a voice in identifying their community goals and work to resolve issues at the local level to improve service delivery for Veterans, Service members, and their families.

Meetings
Each WMVC meeting purpose is to educate the attendees on a variety of veteran related topics, connect service providers with each other to promote an understanding of the different services and resources available, and to develop plans to improve the veterans’ service system. These meetings foster collaboration, coordination, and integration to support the Michigan Veteran Community Action Teams Network no-wrong-door model of care.

Subcommittees
Employment, Education, Healthcare, and Quality of Life are four working subcommittees to address specific issues facing veterans in the community.
