About the Summit:
Three common sense reforms – allowing Medicare to directly negotiate prescription drug prices with drug companies, accelerating the move to a value-based care system and increasing transparency about the value of services – are key to lowering healthcare costs and improving health outcomes.

West Health, a family of nonprofit and nonpartisan organizations that spans research, policy and philanthropy, will convene major figures from the worlds of healthcare, business, policy and media for a free national summit on April 2, 2019 in Washington, D.C. on how to best drive these reforms to create a system that is more transparent, competitive, affordable, person-centered, quality-driven and sustainable.

Participants will reveal new data on the impact of rising healthcare costs, identify successes and failures in reducing costs and improving care, evaluate current policies, and advance an action plan for implementing the three reforms that were first formulated at West Health Innovation Summit last year.

After the Summit, specific recommendations and policy prescriptions will be published and West Health will work with elected officials, policymakers, health systems, insurers, businesses, patients and other stakeholders to advance progress and drive accountability for reducing healthcare costs.
