Description

A hands-on lecture-demonstration series on how to create polyrhythms under the guidance of “Divine” Master Drummer, Kwame Ansah-Brew, making these techniques more accessible to any drummer.

Participants of all levels will embark on a rhythmic journey to the classical drumming ensemble compositions of our ancestors from Ghana, West Africa, and experience the art of using polyrhythmic techniques, where several contrasting rhythmic patterns are played simultaneously.

Session One: Kpanlogo 101 Saturday, September 30, 2017

Session Two: Gahu 101 Saturday, October 28, 2017

Session Three: Sikyi 101 Saturday, November 18, 2017

Session Four: Kete 101 Saturday, December 16, 2017

Session Five: Adowa 101 Saturday, February 24, 2018

Session Six: Agbadza 101 Saturday, March 31, 2018


LOCATION :The Performing Arts Center for African Cultures

8576 Laureldale Drive, Laurel MD 20724

Time : 12:00pm to 4:30pm (Please arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes early)

Fees: Registration: $65

Walk-In: $85

Note: The Fee includes African Cuisine Lunch during the 30 min. break from 2pm-2:30pm

The Class will include audio visual and lecture demonstration

Drums will be provided but feel free to bring your own drum
