Event description

Description

Come and learn to make Red-Red, a typical street food of black-eyed peas deeply seasoned found in Ghana, West Africa. It is named for the red Palm oil that it is usually cooked in. Although Asempe Kitchen eschews the traditional Palm oil, the dish still turns out reddish-orange for the tomato paste used. Meat can be added and we are adding chicken. You will also learn to make fried plantains.

Get to know Kuukua Dzigbordi Yomekpe who just won the Silver award at the Taste of Bexley! She immigrated from Ghana to Ohio at age 18. And while she’s an academic, currently Kuukua is transforming Columbus' ideas of African cuisine through Asempe Kitchen as its full-time owner and operator. She believes that food has the ability to build bridges and bring strangers together.

Vegetarian option available.
