Event description

Description

Join us in celebrating the completion of the Centre and Herron Green Stormwater Infrastructure project. Our green ribbon cutting begins at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21st at the intersection of Centre and Herron avenues in the Hill District. This event provides an opportunity to recognize those that made the project possible and to acknowledge the importance of using green solutions to reduce flooding and manage stormwater throughout Pittsburgh.

The Centre and Herron Green Stormwater Infrastructure project is the first of three pilot projects completed by the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority. We began planning and designing this project in 2016 and started construction last summer. It uses a series of cascading bioswales and underground storage tanks to capture and slowly release stormwater into the sewer system.

Completing this project is an important milestone towards implementing Pittsburgh's green first approach. Please join the celebration and share your excitement. For more information about how we will manage stormwater throughout Pittsburgh, please check out the Citywide Green First Plan on our website.

We would like to thank our project partners. Without your support, this project would not be possible.
