Key Details:

Room 3Z015, networking starting at 7:30pm, with the event to start promptly at 8pm.

Talk Summary:

The maintenance of buildings and infrastructure relies heavily on a well-defined asset management strategy; to inform this, multiple stages of inspection and assessment are required. Often the first stages are purely visual, but often more insight is required, and this is gained using various non-intrusive (or ‘semi-intrusive’) investigation techniques. This talk will comprise a whistle-stop tour of the tools that I frequently use in my role as a Materials Engineer, with some asides covering various deterioration mechanism in buildings and structures.

About the speaker:

Graham is a Senior Materials Engineer Mott MacDonald and has recently achieved Chartership through the IoM3. He has 10+ years industry experience in consulting, materials-supply, and heritage (following a brief stint in academia after his PhD). He is a firm believer in the ethos of ‘durability = sustainability’ and this factors in a whole suite of construction, maintenance, and repair best practices
