Join Nurse Coach, Kym Dunton, RN, CHC from Baptist Health to discuss "Mindfulness: The Art of “Being” not “Doing”
When is the last time you just sat –with no distraction at all-and experienced being in the moment? If you’re like most of us, it’s been awhile. Mindfulness- based stress reduction (MBSR) helps you learn to calm your mind and body to help you cope with stress, illness and pain. MBSR teaches how to be in the moment – from the time you wake up in the morning till you go to bed at night! It doesn’t take long and can be done anywhere.
Mindfulness is not about ”zoning out” but rather teaches you how to purposefully pay attention. You’ll learn not to judge those random thoughts that come into your mind, and how to truly focus on your surroundings and emotions. Take time to see how your body is feeling from head to toe. In this introductory session, we will discuss the “what and why” of mindfulness, and then the "how" as we practice a body scan meditation and a mountain meditation- all in the comfort of the chair.
No cost to attend, and YMCA membership is not required, so invite a friend!
Seating is limited, so reserve your space today!
