Well-Read Black Girl Festival 2019

The annual literary celebration will bring together Black women writers & readers for a full day of panels, workshops, and editor roundtables. This year boasts appearances by authors Jacqueline Woodson, Elizabeth Acevedo, Erica Armstrong Dunbar, Saidiya Hartman, DaMaris Hill, Kalisha Buckhanon, Mahogany Browne, Rachel Cargle, Nic Stone, Dhonielle Clayton and more. This year we've added an additional day dedicated to families. Bring your little ones & pre-teens for storytelling, author readings, and craft workshops.

Who is the Well-Read Black Girl Festival for?

Well-Read Black Girl Festival is for Black girls, women and non-binary readers & writers who are passionate about books. We are focused on empowering Black & PoC women, we encourage attendees who identify as genderqueer, non-binary, or others who feel inspired by what we’re doing to join us at the festival and be a part of our community.

Can men attend?

The festival is created by and for Black women. We also encourage people who are genderqueer, gender non-binary be a part of our community. We encourage entire families to participate in Family Day on November 3rd.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The festival is an all-ages event. We do however recommend attendees under 18 attend with a parent or guardian and that content is checked for appropriateness. We encourage children ages 3-16 to attend the #WRBGFest Family Day on November 3rd.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking is limited. We encourage you to use public transportation - there are several MTA subway stations nearby: https://new.mta.info
