Yoga for Developing Attention Skills Weekly Sessions

Ages 7-11

Ever wondered how you can help your child stay focussed for longer periods of time?

Does your child find it hard to wait their turn, stay on the topic of conversation, or tend to daydream often?

How often do you find yourself repeating yourself or asking your child, ‘Are you listening?’

We live in an information-saturated, hectic and stimulus rich culture which pulls our children in so many directions, splitting their attention and making it harder for them to focus on one thing at a time for appropriate lengths of time.

This introductory course to yoga can help your child begin to master their attention skills by simply helping them to turn their attention inwards. Over three sessions they will learn simple yoga techniques to control their breathing and body movements, and in turn control their thoughts and energy. It will equip them with tools to help them become more aware of themselves and to contribute to their overall wellbeing.

Through simple fun yoga techniques, stories and play we can help them to connect with themselves better.

Monal is a Speech and Language Therapist who qualified at City University. She has had extensive experience working in pre-schools, mainstream schools and language units. Monal has recently qualified as a Yoga teacher, and attended Mindfulness training courses to work with children and teenagers.
