Event description

Description

You’re invited to the world’s best birthday party for the legendary BMW 2002!

** SORRY, WE'RE SOLD OUT FOR THIS EVENT!! **

THE ICON: 50 Years of the 2002 opened to a sell-out crowd of 500 enthusiasts back in May. Since then, thousands of fans from all over the world have seen the show.

Now you have the chance to be one of just 200 special guests for the closing celebration!

There are two days of events, and you can design your own experience. A great party with food, drink and four celebrity speakers, including Andreas Bovensiepen, CEO of Alpina. An unforgettable Alpina-Schnitzer 2002 track demo and duel. Special tour slots at the BMW Manufacturing Plant. And for the first 50 ICON guests who sign up at the BMW Performance Center, a special (and free!) driving experience including the new M5. (NOTE: The Performance Center experience is currently sold out. But you're guaranteed spots at the Museum Party and Alpina-Schnitzer demo, and there are still spots left for the Plant Tour!)

Of course, you’ll see 29 exceptional BMW 2002s at the Foundation Museum. Pristine stock examples, rare European-market cars, historic racers, and beautiful, insanely modified 02s will blow your gearhead mind.

All of these experiences are available to you for January 18 and 19 only, and all for the price of $75. But don't hesitate, because all events have specific attendance limits. Pay particular attention to the BMW Performance Center event and Plant tour limits on registration.

Here are the details, beginning with the January 19 Closing Celebration, followed by three bonus events scheduled for both January 18 and 19;

Saturday, January 19, 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Closing Celebration for THE ICON: 50 Years of the 2002

At the BMW CCA Museum & Archive

All guests invited! You’ll enjoy great food and drinks, see the full ICON exhibition with 29 exhibition cars and hundreds of 02-related rarities. And you'll hear four celebrity speakers give short talks on the creation and influence of the BMW 2002;

- Andreas Bovensiepen, CEO of Alpina

- Jackie Jouret, Researcher and Author of the ICON exhibition book

- Rob Siegel, the beloved Hack Mechanic

- Tom Plucinsky, from BMW North America

Friday January 18, 12:00 noon – 3:30pm

Special Driving Experience at the BMW Performance Center

* CURRENTLY SOLD OUT *

Mike Renner will lead you through three separate on-track exercises, with one exercise putting you behind the wheel of the all-new M5.

* THIS EXPERIENCE IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE FIRST 50 TICKET-HOLDERS WHO REGISTER SEPARATELY WITH THE PERFORMANCE CENTER !! *

* YOU WILL RECEIVE A LINK IN YOUR TICKET PURCHASE CONFIRMATION EMAIL TO REGISTER FOR THE PERFORMANCE CENTER EXPERIENCE (SCROLL DOWN IN THAT EMAIL TO SEE THE INSTRUCTIONS). YOU MUST BE ONE OF THE FIRST 50 PEOPLE TO FOLLOW THAT LINK AND REGISTER. *

Friday, January 18, 3:30pm

Schnitzer Group 5 2002 and Alpina 2002 Racer Demo

At the BMW Performance Center

All ICON guests invited! See and hear both of these historic, angry little racers, including the only (we believe) Schnitzer-bodied, Schnitzer-powered 2002 in the United States.

You do NOT need to have participated in the Performance Center driving exercises to attend this demo. But you need to be on time, because something this crazy will only happen once.

Saturday, January 19, 9:00am

Special Tours of the BMW Manufacturing Plant

Get an insider’s look at the amazing technology and logistics required to manfacture nearly 1,500 new BMWs per day. You'll also have the opportunity to see BMW's Zentrum Museum during rare Saturday hours.

* THIS EXPERIENCE IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE FIRST 100 ICON TICKET-HOLDERS WHO REGISTER SEPARATELY WITH THE PLANT FOR A TOUR SLOT! *

* YOU WILL RECEIVE INFORMATION IN YOUR TICKET PURCHASE CONFIRMATION EMAIL TO REGISTER FOR THE PLANT TOUR (SCROLL DOWN IN THAT EMAIL TO SEE THE INSTRUCTIONS). YOU MUST BE ONE OF THE FIRST 100 PEOPLE TO CALL THE PLANT AND REGISTER. *

All attendees will be automatically entered in several on-site drawings. You could win, on the spot:

- A free set of Yokohama tires

- Gift certificates from Bavarian Autosport

- Car Care Products from Griots Garage

- The perfect vintage automobile mats from CocoMats

The cars, the celebs, the give-aways...and the Museum will be packed to the rafters with 2002-related art, memorabilia and rarities you've never seen before. And of course, ICON exhibition books, posters and merchandise will all be available to feed your unhealthy obsession.

Whether you've seen the ICON exhibition or not, this closing celebration is not to be missed. It's all generously presented to you by The Werk Shop, along with Modified Group Sponsor Yokohama Tire, Car Care Sponsor Griot's Garage, Bavarian Autosport, Classic BMW, CocoMats, and Odometer Gears.

FAQs

You're charging admission for this event. Where does my money go?

Your admission fee will cover the costs of your food and drink, and will also help to operate your BMW CCA Museum & Archive, the largest in the Americas. It will also help to support Tire Rack Street Survival, a nationwide car-control clinic for teenagers. And finally, your admission charge covers the cost of a commemorative item you'll receive when you're here. Last year, the Foundation, our volunteers and supporting organizations trained more than 2,800 young drivers. The Foundation's programs are donor-supported. They don't happen without you, so we're grateful for your support!

Is there an age limit to enter the event?

At the Saturday evening closing celebration, we prefer that all guests be age 12 and up.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

We've got the only building on our street. We have plenty of parking all around our building, on the street, and you are welcome to park on the grass. We will have volunteers here to show you where you can park.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Bring your enthusiasm and love for the marque! And bring your cameras...you are welcome to take all the photographs and video you want. Pets may be brought to the property, but they will not be allowed inside the building.

Is this event registration separate from registration for the Performance Center Experience and the Plant Tour?

Yes! Here, you are only guaranteeing your spot at the Closing Celebration event on the evening of Saturday, January 19. Once you purchase that ticket here, you will receive a confirmation email. That email will include instructions on how to SEPARATELY register for the Performance Center Experience and the Plant Tour. PLEASE NOTE that registration is LIMITED to 50 PEOPLE for the Performance Center Experience, and 100 PEOPLE for the Plant Tours. Don't wait to register for those opportunities!

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Contact Andrea Galehouse or Michael Mitchell at 864.329.1919. You may also send an email to info@bmwccafoundation.org.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

Yes. Just make sure to give us the name of the new registrant, so we can put them on the list.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, please contact us using the phone number or email above.
