Event description

Description

Two days: 10am to 5pm. Sat & Sunday. Pedal to the Metal. Limited to 8-10 attendees - you could be one of the lucky eight! You can take storytelling classes for weeks and possibly miss one or two; OR you can take this Weekend Intensive. There's homework to be done before the class, so that we can hit the ground running. Info will be sent out before class begins. This weekend intensive happens in an event room at The Galleria Park Hotel, 191 Sutter St, SF.

Who is this for? Performers, Writers, Creatives and anyone on a path of self-discovery. If you have a product, a business, a vision, or a personal story burning inside you - learning the craft of storytelling is key. But how to find those stories? And which ones are important to tell? Self exploration and mining your past for stories, help answer that question. To do this well - there will be some grunt work, reflection and group effort. Roll up your sleeves, wet your pencil.

Perhaps you have heard me tell a story, and have wondered if I have a technique for finding stories. I do. Perhaps you've heard me tell entrepreneurs that if you want to gain trust and be influential - you must learn to tell a story. And then tell it well. Or you are a writer and want to cut through the character development, scene study, dialogue and get to the spine - to the story. The answer is Yes. We'll be hanging out in someone's living room - stretching brain muscles, feeling valued, heard, learning new ideas. The first challenge: Dare to Be Interesting. But 'interesting' is a subjective word, and personal style is a variable. That's why working in a supportive group with an instructor who gently guides everyone to take risks is key. And when we get that accomplished, we'll put our toes in the water of Funny Stories. Going deeper.

We'll have fun, and a tribe will form. Deep diving our pasts. As Socrates said, 'The unexamined life is not worth living.'

Non-refundable $100 DEPOSIT. This saves your spot. $400 due two weeks before event. ($500 total) This is offered at an affordable value, because it is the first time offered to the public. Lunch included on both days. *Does not include overnite accommodations.

We're not messing around. Both days, one price. It's a progression. Saturday and Sunday 10-5pm. Arrive 30 minutes early, 9:30am - we'll have coffee. Better to be early than late.

You will learn:

• A technique to find and develop your stories. You will use this technique in class as we write and tell stories. This technique will be your new best friend; a tool you can use over and over to tell great stories.

• The common pitfalls of storytelling. How to be the best you.

• Opportunities to refine your stories, practice telling them, and get professional feedback.

• How to be funnier. Not cheesier. Also, no puns; no cornball stuff. God, no.

Saturday will be Storytelling 101 and 2.0. How to mine your life for your stories, and how to craft it for maximum interest. Personal, individualized feedback. You will write, test things out, stretch and grow. Come with an open mind - Fun and Intensive; like tight rope walking over jello. Nobody gets hurt.

You will receive pre-weekend handouts, so we can hit the ground working!

Sunday is for Humor. We got some tech-niques!! Your brain cells will start jumping. Everyone can be funn-ier. We are not talking about putting you on the stand-up circuit. Because, yes, humor is subjective. You will be asked to bring examples of your favorite comics, or personal examples of humor. We will explore our humor, our style - and then push on it a bit! There will be some improv, some loosening up, also exploring styles. You will learn what makes things funny, and when to leave the funny for another time.

These two days will be super fun and interesting! Open-minded fun people only, please. After you pay a deposit, you will receive a required questionaire that will be helpful for us to match your goals.

Remaining $400 must be paid two weeks before Intensive Weekend. Paypal or Venmo.
