Event description

Description

This is a retreat experience for women with diabetes who are seeking something more fulfilling and satisfying in their search for diabetes self-care knowledge and personal empowerment. The Women's Weekend of Wisdom is designed for women who wish to embrace their connection with each other and their higher knowing self as part of living with diabetes. It is a wonderful retreat for women with any form of diabetes, pre-diabetes or insulin resistance.

Our Self-Care Retreat offers informative classes. from diabetes self-management tools to exercise and healthy food choices, from lowering stress to finding a contemplative practice and charting a course for lifestyle change, this Self-Care Retreat covers "it all." We offer specialized diabetes education within a supportive model of compassionate encouragement. Our classes correlate to the AADE 7 Model of diabetes self-care: healthy eating, being active, taking medication, monitoring, healthy coping, problem solving and risk prevention.

Tai Chi, Qi Gong, meditation and yoga, expressive arts and introspective exercises are all uniquely designed by Women of Diabetes for their sisters. Please view our complete Class Catalog or visit our website: www.diabetesretreats.org.

Our Retreat Presenters are registered nurses, art therapists, nutritionists, dietitians, athletes, and psychotherapists, many of whom are Certified Diabetes Educators. One thing they all have in common is - they live with diabetes themselves. Our Presenters "walk their talk" with Type 1, Type 2, Pre-Diabetes, Insulin Resistance, and LADA. The chefs at Spirit Fire are diabetes savvy, serving a combination of fresh and healthy foods from vegetarian or vegan to traditional meat fares.

Each Attendee will receive a “goody bag“ with information, sample products, and coupons related to diabetes self-care. This year we are including a Retreat manual with information about The DARE approach to Self-Care, class handouts and journal for taking notes. Experience a new vision of diabetes self-care. Dare yourself to learn new ways to live well with your diabetes.

Discover the Wise Woman within who knows exactly what she needs to fortify herself and her spirit. Take this unique opportunity to explore, delight, discover and transform yourself in the company and sisterhood of other wise women with diabetes.
