Event description

Description

Please join YWCA of Greater Atlanta for a Week Without Violence Movie Screening and Discussion on Sunday, October 29th from 2-4 PM. Week Without Violence is part of a global YWCA movement to end violence against women and girls. The event will feature a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary, "The Hunting Ground", which focuses on the issue of sexual assault on U.S. college campuses. Following the screening, there will be a group discussion on how sexual violence is connected to violence against women more broadly, the steps we can take to end it, and a question and answer session

Unfortunately, not all survivors of violence are given the same access to resources and support. Some violence is ignored altogether

  • 1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men are sexually assaulted while in college.
  • Rape is the most under-reported crime; 63% of sexual assaults are not reported to police.
  • Only 12% of instances of child sexual abuse are reported to authorities.
  • The prevalence of false reporting is between 2% and 10%.

Join us and help end gender-based violence in your community.
