FEATURES

Desree.

Desree is a spoken word artist, writer and facilitator based in both London and Slough.

Currently Artist in Residence for poetry collective EMPOWORD, Desree explores intersectionality, justice and social commentary, occasionally throwing in a f*ckboy poem.

Runner up in 2018’s Hammer & Tongue final and TEDx speaker, she and has featured at events all over the UK and internationally, armed with a poetry book and a slightly odd sense of humour.

Her self-published book titled I Find My Strength In Simple Things, was released in 2017 and Desree has her sights set a second collection to be released in 2019.

Jamal/Kid Anansi

Jamal is the poetry equivalent of finding out that the drinks machine in your local McDonalds has quietly replaced its Pepsi button with spiced rum. He is confusing, frightening, delicious with ginger beer and lemon, and unhealthy in large doses.

His poetry ranges from raw, hard-hitting snapshots of reality to downright silly.

He likes to call himself Kid Anansi when he raps (he does not do this often) mainly because his arrogance has no bounds but also in homage to his Ghanaian heritage. Recently, he has tried to begun to take himself and his poetry more seriously, which is code for 'He has recently run out of dick jokes that are genuinely clever and original'.

Catch both these incredible poets taking on the WBB news round up LIVE!

Tickets are £5 full price
