Event description
This week long camp is meant for 4th - 8th graders who have experience with VEX, allowing them to build and program their own VEX robot.

About this Event

In this week-long camp, students discover and develop science, math, engineering and programming skills through designing, building, and programming a VEX robot. This camp takes students through a project-based challenge, culminating in a fun and interactive competition with peers where students get to put their creations to the test.

Week 2’s Intermediate/Advanced camp is geared towards those who already have experience working with VEX IQ (i.e. has been part of a Davis Youth Robotics team, attended the summer camp last year, etc.), providing students with less strict structure and instruction. This grants students more freedom with their designing, building, and programming of their robot.

This camp is led and taught by Steve Harvey, the Robotics Education Instructor at Davis Senior High School and Head Coach of the World Champion Citrus Circuits Robotics Team. Due to the doubling of camper capacity for Week 2, Kelly Ostrom, a 1678 alum will also be assisting as the Assistant Supervisor for this camp. In addition, camp counselors experienced in VEX will work one-on-one with students to help their designing and programming process.

Due to expansion, we have expanded to two separate buildings on the Davis Senior High School campus. Those in Group A (the first 24 registered campers) will be in room M-1. Those is Group B (those who registered after the first 24 campers) will be in the Dance Room (South Gym). (Group will be specified on ticket.)

Due to the limited camp availability, only children entering grades 4th through 8th are eligible. Registration is restricted to one camp per student. Students above 8th grade are encouraged to apply for the high school robotics team, Citrus Circuits.

Half and full scholarships are available, although there are a limited amount that must be applied for and approved. See below for scholarship instructions.
