An Overview of Important Legal Decisions and Legislative Changes - Presented by Matthew D. Batastini of Schwartz Hannum PC.

This presentation reviews an eventful year for HR professionals and previews some changes that employers might expect in the coming year. The presentation will highlight 2018’s most important developments in federal, Massachusetts and multi-state labor, and employment law, including:

• Developments in Massachusetts anti-discrimination litigation and enforcement priorities
• Wage and Hour issues, including state and local minimum wage increases

Matthew D. Batastini is a Partner at Schwartz Hannum PC and a member of the Firm’s employment and education groups.

Matthew counsels the Firm’s corporate and education clients on all aspects of the employment relationship, and represents those clients in state and federal courts and before agencies, including the EEOC, MCAD, NYSDHR, DOL, OSHA, and NLRB. He has defended clients against claims involving discrimination, harassment, whistleblowing, wage and hour laws, trade secrets, breaches of non-compete or other restrictive covenants, and executive compensation. He has extensive experience advising clients on the drafting and enforceability of post-employment restrictions.

Before he joined the Firm, Matthew spent four years as an associate attorney at Proskauer Rose LLP in its New Jersey and Boston offices. Prior to his time at Proskauer, Matthew was an associate with Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP (now Locke Lord) in Madison, NJ for five years. Matthew graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in Economics and received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. He enjoys volunteering as an alumni interviewer at Middlebury College.
