Event Details

#WeDidThis is a Human Rights Day celebration to inspire the next generation of young Advocates.

Although Australia is a great place for most children to grow up, certain groups of young people have been left behind.

10.9% of Australia's children live in poverty, there has been a 50% increase in out-of-home care in the last decade and Aboriginal children are three times more likely to suffer from child mortality.

To create the future we want, young Australians must take collective action and become advocates for their own rights.

In partnership with UNICEF Australia and the Australian Youth Affairs Coaliation, we are looking to incubate the next generation of young human rights advocates.

More about this project will be revealed on Human Rights Day.

Join us on December 10 and hear our panel of inspiring change makers tell their stories of passion, human rights advocacy and the importance of youth-led change.

SPEAKERS

Chris Varney is a former Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations and has become a powerful advocate for the rights of vulnerable children.

Judith Cashmore AO is a specialist in child protection and welfare policy and has dedicated her research to improving the lives of children.

Andrew Cummings is the Executive Director of the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition and is passionate about youth-led change.

Jan Muhunthan is the Child Rights Taskforce Youth Reporter and has travelled from Sydney to Geneva and back to raise awareness about the rights of children and young people.
