Description
You’ve been putting your website off for a while now, right? Come to this two session workshop and get it over with!
Thursday, July 17, 2-4pm + Friday, July 18, 2-6pm
We will create websites with WordPress, a code-less, easy to manage framework for blogs and websites. The workshop will take place in two parts:
Day 1: 2-4pm, Thursday, July 17
This day will be lecture based. We will go over how WordPress works and introduce the WordPress interface and it's various features. We will also talk about what makes a good theme and some basic content strategy, and have some time to map out a basic site structure.
Homework: Choose a theme, finish up your site map, and come with content for your site the next day.
Day 2: 2-6pm, Friday, July 18
Our second day will be more practical. We will learn the ins and outs of managing content with WordPress, then have a couple hours of lab time for you to add your images, text, and customize the look of your site. Then let's all go out for a happy hour!
The workshop will take place at New Work City, an awesome coworking space in Tribeca. Coffee included.
You will need:
- A laptop
- Basic Internet know-how and understanding of uploading images, word processing, and familiarity with Google
- Content (images, text, video, etc.)
- Hosting and domain name (I will send instructions for setting this up)
The cost is $350 (compare at $2k for hiring a web designer!) plus hosting and domain costs (around $120/yr).
The workshop will be limited to 5 people to ensure you get the most out of the experience. If it's full, feel free to join the waitlist and you'll be up front for future events.
