Galvanize is excited to have Software Engineering Immersive alumnus Damon Chivers teach GSAP — The standard for JavaScript HTML5 animation! Why GSAP for HTML5 animation?
Why is it over 4 million websites, many award winning (google), use this powerful JavaScript library? By the end of this workshop you’ll understand first hand how developers use this high performance library.

For this particular event, in order participate in the code along, it is highly encouraged that students have a strong understanding of DOM manipulation and JavaScript. For beginners, please join use and watch/take notes during this portion!
What You’ll learn:
During this hands on introductory workshop, Damon Chivers - Software engineer and Galvanize Alum will lead us through how to use the GSAP animation library to add smooth creative
Students will look at the many different plugins that this high-performance tool has to offer, why GSAP is preferred over css animations, finishing up the class by showing the ease of adding GSAP animations to any project.

Laptop, charger, and willingness to learn

About Damon:
Damon Chivers is a Galvanize graduate, artist, and full stack software engineer from Charleston, SC. He began painting when he was 18 but has always had an eye for design and creative possibilities. He designs logos, websites, paints custom acrylic portraits, and can also mix and master audio. Through his love for creation he discovered software development, and it has been the perfect bridge to apply his skills technically and creatively. He enjoys working in front-end development where he can make creative decisions and code his designs into life to make exceptional user experiences.
