By JUST Centre
Online event
Overview
Taking a new place-specific approach to reaching net zero.
JUST (Centre for Joined-Up Sustainability Transformations) is an ESRC research centre dedicated to advancing sustainability transformations that are people-centred, joined-up and socially just.
In this webinar we will introduce our web-based mapping tool, designed to assess the readiness of different places and communities across the UK to undergo climate adaptation and/or just transition.
About the readiness tool:
- Integrates robust, trusted and open data layers from sources including the 2021 UK Census, 2025 Indices of Multiple Deprivation and Understanding Society.
- Enables exploration of how people live, travel, consume, work and spend leisure time, alongside data on vulnerabilities and attitudes to change.
- Offers a unique ‘hot spot’ perspective to identify neighbourhoods where support for transition should be prioritised.
Attendees will:
- Learn about the readiness tool’s new functionality, development and future impact.
- Understand how policymakers, local organisations and climate actors can use it to prepare for or drive transition.
- Have the opportunity to provide feedback and help refine the tool before its full launch.
Be among the first to explore this innovative resource and help shape a tool to support communities in achieving fair and effective climate transitions.
