Diversity Webinar Series: Going beyond buzzwords to foster Inclusion

A lot of conversation goes into acknowledging that diversity in the tech industry is an issue, but few dig into the action-oriented solutions that we all can do to impact change. Join us in 2019 for a webinar series on how to create inclusive work spaces that welcome and embrace diversity on teams. Human Inclusive's Lia and Christopher will dive into foundational content from allyship to microaggressions, talk about ways to check the pulse of your organization, and wrap up the series with a virtual panel highlighting folks who are making the shift in their companies and doing it well!

Join us on Tuesday, April 2 for the second webinar in the series:

Understand Microaggressions in the Workplace

Don't be fooled by the word "micro"; they may seem small, but the impact can be mighty. Microaggressions happen all.of.the.time! Inclusion leans on the dismantling of systemic oppression. Use the learnings of microaggressions as you continue your practice of allyship from our last webinar with Human Inclusive. In this webinar, Human Inclusive’s Lia James and Christopher Guest will be exploring:

  • What microaggressions are and how to identify when they're happening

  • How to stand up for yourself - and more importantly - others

  • What resources can you use to reduce the microaggressions in your organization

Sign-up for the rest of the series too!

Webinar 1: Allyship: Inclusion and Acknowledging Privilege
February 13, 2019

Diversity and Inclusion go hand in hand. Many organizations focus on diversity, but inclusion is where it all starts. So let’s talk about allyship. Allyship is being the person who advocates for others when they aren’t in the room. But saying that you are an ally is much easier than being a good ally. Join Human Inclusive’s Lia James and Christopher Guest in a webinar that will explore:

  • What it means to recognize your own privilege

  • How to be proactive about awareness and education

  • How to show up as an ally to share in the labor

Webinar 3: Check the pulse for D&I initiatives!
May 22, 2019

Goals and metrics are amazing, and yes, organizations should set goals for accountability and a consistent investment in their inclusion initiatives. Don’t get sucked into the trap of setting goals for your organization without first checking the pulse of your organization. Where are you now with diversity? What does attrition look like? How about retention? Who's getting promoted, and who isn't? What learning tools are in place? What do your talent acquistion numbers look like for each team? What do retention and attrition numbers look like for each team? D&I is EVERYONE'S JOB, not just one person or team. But to get everyone onboard, assess before goal setting. In this webinar, Human Inclusive’s Lia James and Christopher Guest will talk about how to make a business case for investing in Inclusion initiatives for a greater culture shift. Join us as we explore:

  • Where to start

  • How to enable others to carry out initiatives and get buy-in from your executives

  • How to help foster the Do-er mentality across the organization

Webinar 4: Real Teams, Real D&I Progress!
July 16, 2019

Getting started can seem overwhelming, but there is hope! Join us as we explore how teams have made the shift within their organization to prioritize inclusion and diversity from the ground up. Human Inclusive’s Lia James and Christopher Guest will moderate a discussion with four teams who have made an immense impact on their teams to explore how they’ve made it possible. Together we will learn:

  • How they got started and keep their teams accountable

  • What were their biggest challenges and hard-to-learn lessons

  • Best practices for getting everyone on board and start the process
