Course description for Session 2 - Transitioning to IATF 16949:2016 (4hrs)

IATF 16949, along with applicabile customer-specific requirements, the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 9000:2015, defines the quality management system requirements for automotive production and relevant service parts organizations.

This transition course pertains to automotive QMS practitioners or those who are interested in learning more about what it takes to manage a quality management system under new automotive industry requirements. Unlike ISO/TS 16949:2009, the newly released IATF 16949 is a stand-alone automotive QMS that works in harmony with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 9000:2015.

Learn the key changes as a starting point for your transition from ISO/TS 16949:2009 to the new IATF 16949:2016. This overview course gives students an overview of key changes to the ISO 9001 and Automotive QMS updates in two separate sessions. CEUs = 0.8

Note: This course can be taken in two phases – transition overview for ISO 9001:2015 and transition overview for IATF 16949:2016. Students supplying to the automotive sector are encouraged to attend both sessions. Each 4-hour class is worth 0.4 CEUs.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR
Jim Thompson has over 20 years of experience serving domestic and international organizations in their pursuit of organizational excellence. Jim also specializes in leadership development and advanced manufacturing techniques.

In 2003, Jim founded Concentric in order to advise customers in organizational improvement, process optimization and integrated (concentric) management techniques. Jim has led hundreds of projects in Lean, ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949 + AIAG Core Tools, AS9100, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and other organizational excellence (OE) implementation projects. In 2008, Jim relocated the business to Charleston, SC due to demand in cost reduction efforts, particularly in the automotive & aerospace manufacturing sectors.
