Are you a practicing APRN wondering how changes in healthcare and in nursing will affect you and the care you provide? Are you an RN wondering when or if you should move into an advanced practice role? Join us to discuss these topics as it relates to the RWJF/IOM's Future of Nursing report recommendations and healthcare reform. Learn issues concerning the APRN, how this role can lead to better healthcare outcomes and how all nurses can advocate for the APRN to play a significant role in healthcare delivery. 

This is a Gannett Education CE event. Participants who attend the webinar and complete an evaluation will earn 1.0 contact hours of continuing nursing education.

Andrea Brassard, RN, FNP, DNSc, MPH

Dr. Brassard is the strategic policy advisor to the Center to Champion Nursing in America at AARP. In this position she seeks out emerging research and other resources that contribute to evidence-based policy solutions. Dr. Brassard came to the Center from the George Washington University where she coordinated the adult nurse practitioner program. She is president of the Nurse Practitioner Association of the District of Columbia and the elected DC representative to the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is the former project manager of Tobacco Free Nurses at the American Nurses Association. Dr. Brassard’s nursing career has alternated between nursing practice and nursing education. In the hospital setting she has been a staff nurse, head nurse, education manager, and relief supervisor. She has worked in home health and hospice as a clinical nurse specialist, team manager, and director of clinical services and quality improvement. Dr. Brassard received a BSN from the University of Delaware and both a Master of Public Health and the Doctor of Nursing Science degree from Columbia University, where she was a public policy fellow. Her advanced family nurse practitioner certificate was earned at the George Washington University. She has been the nurse practitioner moderator for Practicing Clinicians Exchange, and currently practices as a volunteer attending at the GWU medical student HEALING clinic for underserved Washington, DC residents.

  4. The day prior and the hour prior to the webinar you should receive reminder emails with links to launch the webinar.
  5. You should log on the webinar at least 10-15 minutes before the event begins so you will have ample time to download the webinar client and log on.
  6. If you are unable to attend the live session, please visit Nurse.com 2-3 days after the event to view the recording. You will still be able to earn CE credit after the live event.
