Event description
Building warm and fulfilling relationships with your donors

About this Event

Fundraising is not always about building a relationship with donors because sometimes, donors just want to give you money and never hear from you again. But for when donors do desire a relationship, this webinar provides you with the tools you need to build a genuinely warm and fulfilling one. It explains the most important relational factors with the power to drive giving and shows how these can be adopted into practical fundraising. The session will draw on the latest psychological science and our own experimental work with clients in the UK, USA and Australia. You’ll leave with a treasure chest of ideas for making donors feel great, and plenty of examples you can use and adapt for your own professional practice. If you want to turbo-charge supporter relationships, this webinar is definitely for you.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1) Define the dispositional and relational factors that have been shown to impact on giving;

2) Differentiate the impacts that these factors have on how much people give and how good they feel about it;

3) Explain how these factors can be used in fundraising communications and justify why; and

4) Apply the learning to two pieces of communications; one solicitation and one thank-you.

The session will be led by Professor Jen Shang, the world’s only Philanthropic Psychologist

Difficulty Level 3: This webinar is both conceptually and empirically challenging because it will offer a range of definitions for concepts that people may or may not be familiar with. It will also present quantitative evidence in support of the impact of each factor on donations and supporter wellbeing. If you’re new to our work, we strongly recommend that you take the webinar on How to Say Thank You or our Introduction to Philanthropic Psychology before attending this webinar. That way you can become familiar with a few of the concepts that we will touch on in this webinar and focus on the additional learning and quantitative evidence here.

The lecture will be approximately 60 minutes in duration, plus up to 15 minutes of questions and answers.

You will receive a recording of the webinar afterwards which you will have access to for 30 days.
