Description

The public is invited to attend a webinar hosted by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, focused on tree and wood product burial as a potential strategy for negative carbon dioxide emissions. This activity is part of the study Developing a Research Agenda for Carbon Dioxide Removal and Reliable Sequestration, in which the committee will identify questions needed to 1) assess the benefits, risks, and scale potential for CO2 removal and sequestration approaches, and 2) increase the commercial viability of these approaches.

On December 12, the committee will conduct a webinar on tree and wood product burial as a potential strategy for negative CO2 emissions. Morton Barlaz, Professor and Head of the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University will provide an overview of this approach as well as future research needs. There will be time following Dr. Barlaz’s remarks for discussion and Q&A.
