*****
Often times people use drugs and alcohol to numb the pain of the abuse and trauma they have suffered. Research indicates that many individuals presenting for treatment for a substance use disorder also have a history of trauma. It is important to treat the whole person and recognize the underlying issues: anger, shame, low self-esteem, fear, and guilt as a result of being a victim of abuse or trauma.
Upon attending this 3-hour webinar participants will be able to:
- Understand the connection between addiction, abuse, and trauma
- Utilize strategies and interventions given in order to help clients identify unhealthy coping skills, understand their interpersonal struggles and to transcend those self- defeating behaviors
- Examine case studies and resources in an effort to support a holistic view of healing from trauma and abuse
* CE Certificate - GA Composite Board Requirement *
Attendees must attend the entire (full length of time) event to receive a certificate (No late arrivals or early departures accepted)
Attendees who miss more than 15 minutes by arriving late, coming back late from break, or leaving early will not receive a CE Certificate.
