Description

South by Southwest is an annual conglomerate of film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It just celebrated its 24th year, and has continued to grow in both scope and size every edition. The film festival celebrates raw innovation and emerging talent from both behind and in front of the camera, both documentary and narrative film. Recent festival breakouts include Most Beautiful Island, I Am Another You, Let There Be Light, Tower and Mr Gaga. This year’s feature submissions open June 26 and close October 19. As the opening date for submissions to SXSW Film Festival approaches, Janet Pierson, Director of Film, joins us in conversation about what is new and upcoming, what works and what doesn’t, what makes her look twice.
