Webinar: Integrating Social Media
An introduction and quick start guide for UU Congregations

The web has exploded and social media is changing how people relate and communicate on a daily business.  Social media tools are creating new opportunities and challenges for our congregations.

While web based communication tools such as blogs, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube can enhance our ministry and communications, one problem is that they can consume massive amounts of time. What's a congregation with limited volunteer and staff time to do?

This webinar presentation and Q & A session we will explore ways to integrate social media tools so content is automatically passed from one tool another. Starting with a traditional monthly newsletter content, participants will be shown how announcements can be shared via a blog format (for fee) and be set up to automatically  be shared via a Facebook page, sent out as a "tweet" on Twitter, and displayed on a congregation's website.

This webinar is being presented by Peter Bowden, the Ballou Channing District's growth consultant (, and will utilize both a telephone conference call and the UUA's Persony webinar website. See below for webinar logistics.

Yes you can! If you would like to pay by check, click "Show payment options" just below the credit card option above.

Approximately 24 hours before the webinar is scheduled to begin you will be emailed a CALL IN NUMBER for accessing the conference call / audio portion of the webinar (long distance charges may apply) and a URL or link with the web address of the meeting room on the UUA's webinar site. This is where you will see the visual portion of the webinar -- text, graphics, and so on.

The webinar will include a brief introduction, review of the agenda, presentation by Peter, and then a discussion and Q&A period. The webinar will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes with Peter lingering to answer additional questions.

Note that this is one of the first webinars our district is offering. We appreciate both your feedback and understanding as our staff and volunteers master this amazing new technology!

One of the UUA's district staff, Phillip Lund, has made a nice presentation orienting participants to this webinar system. Watch the presentation below (also here) to get a sense of what to expect. Have questions? You are welcome to contact Peter Bowden, this webinar's presenter at any time. Contact Peter.
