Title:  How Does High-Quality Pain Relief Contribute to Good Outcomes for Patients and Professionals?
Date: Monday, May 12, 2014
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM ET (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM CT; 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM MT; 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM PT)

Acute pain is a universal experience and chronic pain is a growing epidemic. It can also affect professionals' satisfaction with their role and impact the institution's reimbursement rate. This webinar will discuss pain management, identifying what exactly quality pain management is, and the importance of monitoring quality, safety, and satisfaction data.

Registered Nurses: 1.0 contact hours

The goal of this webinar is to improve the RN's knowledge of best practices related to pain assessment, treatment planning, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction with the way pain is managed.

Upon completion, participants will be able to do the following:

  1. Explain National standards and polices related to pain
  2. Describe Pain Assessment Strategies based on patients age and ability to understand/use tools
  3. Discuss the principles of safe, effective use of pain relievers
  4. Identify at least three non-drug pain relief options that can be used in current clinical settings
  5. Modify treatment plans in patients with complex needs
  6. Identify three process/outcome measures used to determine quality of pain management
