Event description
Join the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry for a webinar focused on our Economic Affairs Business Forum on Tuesday, 26 May 2020.

About this event

Presentation: Post-Pandemic Economic Prospects and Growth Industries.

Presented by Dr Roelof Botha, Economist and Joint Managing Director of GOPA Group Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd.

There is no escaping the extraordinary socio-economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 virus. Not since the Great Depression almost a century ago have so many countries simultaneously been confronted with such a sudden upheaval and profound economic contraction. Few companies and individuals in the world will remain unscathed as a result of this treacherous pandemic, but, thanks to the third and fourth industrial revolutions, sectors such as mobile and internet-based communications, in whatever guise, and also other sectors, including food processing, pharmaceuticals, health services and nutritional supplements will continue to add value to the global economy. Scores of innovative experts and entrepreneurs are already starting to adapt to the so-called “new normal”, which promises the creation of new types of business and the rapid expansion of on-line shopping and delivery services.
