This webinar is for ed tech and learning companies that are currently building apps for children. It's easy to overlook COPPA regulations that could put you out of business - don't let that happen to you. Instead, come learn from the experts (i.e the ones who are making and enforcing the rules) about recent FTC regulation updates. This is your chance to find out what's really going on and clear up any confusion you may have.

Meet the Presenters:

Peder Magee
Senior Attorney, Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
Peder Magee is a senior attorney in the FTC's Divison of Privacy and Identity Protection and works on a variety of privacy policy and litigation matters. Peder is the principal author of the March 2012 FTC Report, Protecting Consumer Privacy in an Era of Rapid Change, which sets forth the Commission's new privacy framework. He is also the principal author of the staff report of the FTC's self-regulatory principles for online behavioral advertising. Peder recently joined the team handling enforcement of the COPPA Rule.

The FTC's mission is to prevent business practices that are anticompetitive or deceptive or unfair to consumers; to enhance informed consumer choice and public understanding of the competitive process; and to accomplish this without unduly burdening legitimate business activity.

Morgan Reed
Executive Director, The Association for Competitive Technology (ACT)

Morgan Reed is a widely known and respected expert on the government impact on technology innovation. As ACT's Executive Director, Morgan specializes in issues involving application development relating to privacy, intellectual property, competition, and small business innovation. His recent work has focused on outreach to app developers to help them recognize and respond to concerns about privacy in the mobile marketpalce.

ACT is an international grassroots advocacy and education organization representing more than 5,000 small and mid-size app developers and information technology firms. It is the only organization focused on the needs of small business innovators from around the world. 

Scott Weiner (Moderator)
Founder, Parents with Apps
Scott Weiner is a partner in Blue Hills Partners and CTO of Blue River Associates consulting group and BrokerSuite, LLC. He also builds family-friendly apps with his children as owner of Weiner Family Studios and volunteers for various communities dedicated to children's education and improving the technology and marketplace for app developers. He is also the creator of Parents with Apps, a forum for family friendly app developers.
