WEBINAR DESCRIPTION: You may have heard the phrase “sitting is the new smoking” in the media. Whether this is phrase is true or not, we do know that “sitting” is contributing negatively to our overall health. The amount of time we spend in sedentary positions on any given day has dramatically increased over the last 25 years. Most people spend the majority of their daytime hours at work in a seated position, which has resulted in a wide variety of serious health risks.

Ergonomist Josh Kerst will share the historical impact of the chair on our bodies and how it has shaped our perception. With overwhelming evidence supporting the need for movement within the work environment, we can no longer ignore these risks. Find out what steps your organization should take to address this concern in this session and learn ways to impact performance and safety positively. This webinar will:

  • Describe the latest research on the negative health impacts of sitting.

  • Review the current body of scientific knowledge on sitting vs. standing vs. leaning/perching

  • Provide guidelines to use in the workplace promoting movement

  • Share objective data on the multitude of health benefits and latest productivity data associated with regular periods of active movement (Active Standing, Leaning, Dynamic Sitting)
