What are the common treatments and therapies in use regarding autism spectrum disorder (ASD)? This webinar will discuss a multimodal, including conventional medical, approach to treating ASD. Become informed about some of the common therapies for ASD and why they are advocated.

The goal of this webinar is to provide information about health issues, treatments and therapies regarding autism spectrum disorder (ASD).  This webinar will discuss a multimodal, including conventional medical, approach to treating ASD.

Upon completion, participants will be able to do the following:  

1.  Describe health issues persons with ASD may experience (gastrointestinal, metabolic).

2.  Identify tests which may be helpful for the person with ASD.

3. Identify dietary concerns for the person with ASD.

Dr. Phillip DeMio is the father of a child with autism and has been an M.D. for over twenty years. His practice serves the medical need of children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. He graduated from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine with honors in metabolism, women and children's health, and neurosciences. Prior to medical school, Dr. DeMio taught and worked in the organic chemistry laboratory at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He is an author of medical topics including brain toxicology, nutrition, and use of supplements in health and disease for children and adults. His achievements include serving as the founder and Executive Director of the American Medical Autism Board, the first entity to certify MD's and DO's in biomedical treatment of the autism spectrum. Dr. DeMio is the first Chief Medical Officer of the US Autism and Asperger Association, a role in which he continues, and he has also served on the Defeat Autism Now! think tank. Dr. DeMio's philosophy is that our children and loved ones are first and foremost in all of our treatments and that health care providers and others who aim to medically help persons affected by autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities should be supported and encouraged by all of us.

Course Completion Requirements and Awarding Certificate: After listening to the webinar presentation, complete the course test online. With a score of 75% or better and completing the evaluation, you may immediately print your CE certificate of completion or save a pdf of it for your records. You may also request a copy to be sent to you by mail. If your score is less than the passing score of 75%, you may retake the test. In the event of loss, there is no charge for a replacement copy of a CE certificate.

How to Register/Attend:
  1. Complete the Webinar Pre-Registration Form above. You will then receive an email from EventBrite confirming that you registered for this webcast.
