Event description

Description

*For Web3Summit ticket holders only*

Join us to build a prototype of a real fully decentralized application from scratch!

According to the DApp developer research, more than half of the respondents mentioned they have to rely on centralized tools and infrastructure when developing their projects. That’s no decentralization!

Blockchains can not accommodate all the code and data, and usually require building additional backend tools to work with them. Come and learn how to make your DApp completely decentralized, get rid of cloud backends and databases using the decentralized cloud computing platform.

Why join?

Test your idea for a Web3 app — create a prototype with a ready-to-use collection of databases and components. Deploy in a single click using the Fluence Dashboard.

Who can join?

Anyone. Hackers who are acquainted with decentralized tech on any level. If you have a DApp or would like to build a new one – you’ll find this workshop useful. No need to learn new programming languages – use any that compiles to WebAssembly. For Web3Summit ticket holders only. Don’t forget your laptop! :)

What’s the format? Any food?

It’s a totally casual setting, we are planning to hack, drink beer and Berlin-special energy drink club mate; have a tasty pizza and snacks. No more networking! Only if you really need to:)

What do I take away?

Hopefully, a working prototype! Or at least a sample that you can develop further at ETHBerlin or elsewhere. We also prepared some nice swag for participants. We want to keep it gamified, so 3 best prototypes will get valuable prizes.

Who is organizing?

The hack night is organized by Fluence Labs.

Fluence Labs develops a protocol which turns commodity hardware into a reliable, cost-efficient cloud using crypto-economic incentives. Unlike blockchains, the network is capable of accommodating conventional open-source software (runs Redis/SQLite forks already), which makes development for the Web 3 much easier. It is an open cloud built by the community and powered by WebAssembly.

Will I get any help if I need to?

For sure! Fluence team will be ready to help – don’t be afraid to ask! We also expect participants to be helpful. Give a hand if you see someone needs help or got stuck.

Can we work in teams?

Yes, of course! Mind that we have 3 prizes, so you’ll have to divide it in between the team.

What’s the agenda?

18:00 - 18:30 - Decompress, get some food, get together at the Hackerspace.
18:30 - Kickoff: plan, what’s going to happen.
18:40 - Deep dive. Building the decentralized prototype. Speaker: Dmitry Kurinsky, CTO at Fluence Labs.
19:20 - Hacking starts!
23:00 - Submitting the results
23:30 - Best 3 projects presenting and getting prizes.
00:00 - Going to the bar to network or home
