About Dr. Tiffany Anderson, Superintendent - Topeka Public Schools

Dr. Tiffany Anderson, a long-time Kansas resident has been a public school educator for more than 25 years. Dr. Anderson is the first African-American female superintendent of Topeka Public Schools, where the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education case ended legal segregation. Under Dr. Anderson’s leadership, she has doubled college course offerings, increased student attendance above 90%, increased ACT participation and increased achievement scores across the district.

Prior to her role at the Topeka School District, Dr. Anderson was superintendent of the Jennings School District in St. Louis Missouri. In just over 3 years there, Dr. Anderson led a dramatic turnaround and under her leadership, the district regained full accreditation. Dr. Anderson has local roots, as she served right here in Kansas City, as superintendent for University Academy, where she worked to eliminate achievement gaps and led the school to accreditation with distinction. Anderson embraces a holistic approach to solving the problems of low performing students by focusing on poverty above all else, and using the tools of the school district to alleviate the barriers that poverty creates.
