Description

Learn the art of weaving using natural and recycled materials with Blue Mountains artists Jillian Culey and Carolyn Dance

Saturday 5 August – In the first workshop we will explore different materials, textures and aesthetics using a variety of plants fibres and recycled materials to create a coiled vessel.

Saturday 12 August – In the second workshop we will learn how to use random weaving techniques to create a unique and beautiful basket or vessel.

There will also be a discussion of the harvesting, storing and preparing of materials.

$65 (single class), or $120 for both. Members discount for paid-up gallery members and active voluteers (use the promo code GEM-00). All materials supplied, as well as a complimentary glass of bubbles at the end of the day. BYO lunch and snacks.

Carolyn and Jillian launched their unique business, Branching Out, in 2013. Branching Out is devoted to all things handmade, fair trade and sustainable. Products include woven baskets, sculptural pieces and garden ornaments using natural fibres and recycled materials.
