Event description
Choose your yarns and weave a custom-made scarf in just one day!

About this Event

If you want to try weaving just for fun to see how you like it (and we think you will!), don't miss the Southern California Handweavers’ Guild popular “Weave a Scarf in a Day” workshop.

In this workshop, you will choose from a variety of yarns with guidance from your workshop instructor, Anna Zinsmeister, one of the area's most experienced and popular fiber-arts teachers. Anna will guide you in warping a rigid heddle loom - a good loom for first time weavers - and then guide you in efficient techniques to finish weaving your scarf by the end of the day!

ABOUT ANNA ZINSMEISTER: A lifetime member of the Southern California Handweavers’ Guild. She learned weaving in 1972 while attending Immaculate Heart College where she received her B.A. in art. She learned to spin on her own around 1978. Anna received a M.A. in Art with a textiles major in 1985 from California State University, Northridge. Anna has taught weaving at the Braille Institute in Los Angeles, the Pacific Asia Museum, the Autry Museum, local craft shops, and weaving groups in Southern California. Anna currently teaches both weaving and spinning privately, through the Burbank Park and Recreation Department.

WORKSHOP FEE: $70.00. Includes instruction, yarns, and use of a rigid heddle loom. There will be coffee or tea and snacks upon arrival but plan to bring your own lunch – the center has a refrigerator and microwave for you to use.
