All are welcome to the DoESLiverpool Wearables Interest Group Affective Touch Hackday on Saturday 18th February 10am-4pm, a FREE event at DoESLiverpool Gostins Building, 4th Floor, Hanover Street, Liverpool. Find out what the Wearable technology community are making and join artists Ticky Lowe & Ross Dalziel to work on ideas and making around communicating Affective Touch through wearable technology. All ages welcome but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Affective Touch is a research area of Francis McGlone, Professor in Neuroscience at LJMU's School of Natural Sciences & Psychology and his co-researchers that Ticky & Ross have been meeting with. This sort of touch is essential in the early development of every single human being..
What if you could share or 'playback' this touch on a wearable device? You could share this with another person, being 'intimate' at a distance. What could be the implications of this? How intimate is this data? How would you protect or share it?
Saturday will be a chance to think and play with materials and sensors. So if you like or want to learn about sewing LEDs or sensors into things, come along!
