Celebrate Wear it Purple Day with Telstra!

Wear it Purple strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people. We understand the importance of LGBTI allies and the difference they can make. Join Telstra in either Sydney or Melbourne on August 30, 2019 as advocates and allies discuss their contribution to LGBTI inclusivity in their workplace and community.

Feel free to share with your networks, but RSVP soon as the event will fill-out. Please aim to arrive by 2:45 to ensure a prompt start. See you in your purple-best!

Speaker Bios

Ross Wetherbee (President, Wear It Purple)

Ross Wetherbee is President of Wear it Purple, an Australian charity that strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for young rainbow people. In his ‘day job’ Ross works in Talent & Inclusion in financial services and has a long standing background in diversity and inclusion, human resources management and organisational development.

Michael Ebeid (Group Executive of Enterprise, Telstra)

Michael Ebeid joined Telstra on 8 October, 2018 as Group Executive, Enterprise. In this role he is responsible for revenues in excess of $8bn and manages a growing business that delivers connectivity, platforms, applications and tailored industry solutions to Telstra’s enterprise and government customers. He is also responsible for Enterprise’s international operations, with approximately 3,500 people in 20 countries and the largest subsea cable network in the Asia Pacific region.

Michael joined Telstra from SBS where he has been the CEO and Managing Director since 2011. In this role he significantly evolved the public broadcaster's portfolio with four distinctive TV channels, an extensive in-language radio offering and new market-leading digital services like SBS On Demand which now has over five million registered users with high audience engagement.

Michael is a strategically focused leader with a 30 year career across the Technology, Telecommunications and Media sectors. He has a successful track record in leading organisational change and transformations and is passionate about workplace culture, leadership and diversity. In 2017, Michael was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his service to Broadcast Media and Multicultural Affairs and named CEO of the Year at the CEO Magazine’s Executive of the Year Awards.

Kylie Fuller (Head of Diversity & inclusion, Telstra)

Kylie is an Organisational Development leader with over 20 years of experience in a range of industries, Kylie’s passion is creating organisations where diverse talent thrives. Kylie is a member of Telstra’s Spectrum Council, the network has just celebrated its tenth anniversary and they’ve enthusiastically supported Wear it Purple Day from the beginning.

Ian Bennett (Partner, PwC)

Ian is a Partner at PwC where he leads the Deals Modelling business in Australia. He's a proud and passionate Excel geek and global Financial Modelling expert.

Ian has been active in PwC D&I at leadership levels for over 7 years, and for three years he was the Diversity & Inclusion Business Leader for the Deals business at PwC where he led that most macho part of PwC through the start of its most significant cultural change for decades.

A proud and outspoken LGBTIQ Ally, Ian sits on the Executive Leadership team of GLEE@PwC, which is PwC's employee network for the LGBTIQ community. Three years ago Ian worked with Pride in Diversity to set up Australia's first Executive LGBTIQ Allies forum to create and activate senior role-models in organisations around Australia. Meeting four times per year, and attended by over 50 senior executives from major corporates and government, the executive allies are passionate about sharing ideas and creating more inclusive cultures in their organisations.

At the 2019 Australian LGBTI Inclusion awards, Ian was joint recipient of the Sally Webster Ally Award.

Ben Burge (CEO, Belong)

Ben has been at the helm of epic, humiliating failures across six industries, in the midst of which he picked fights with bullies, lost (and rediscovered) his faith in democracy, and occasionally got lucky.

Ben joined Belong in 2018, has been with Telstra since 2016, and sits on the Board of Telstra Energy.

Prior to joining Telstra, Ben was CEO of an energy company, an investment bank, and an ASX listed media company.

Sarah McGeehan (Customer Operations Executive, Telstra InfraCo)

Sarah has a Master of Business (Marketing) from Swinburne University, is a graduate of the Australian Graduate School of Management General Manager Program, Australian Institute of Company Directors and Harvard Business School Global Women's Forum, a fellow of the Customer Service Institute of Australia and joined the Deacon University Business School Advisory Board in 2015. Sarah is a diversity and inclusion champion with a focus on issues impacting women and LGBTI+.

Sarah has been working with Telstra for 19 years and is currently the Customer Operations Executive for InfraCo. Prior to joining Telstra, Sarah had a successful career with Eastman Kodak, working in sales and marketing roles across the Asia Pacific Region, focused on digital imaging, and worked with software development companies in Europe and USA.

Chris Keely (GM, Food & Subscription Television, SBS)

Named in the inaugural Australian Pride Power List 2019 as one of the 50 LGBTI+ community and allies who through their work, activism or campaigning are making a real difference to the lives of LGBTI+ people right across Australia.

Chris has working in broadcasting and media for 25 years and is currently working at SBS as Channel Manager for both SBS Food and SBS World Movies, both which he launched and are now vibrant channels in the SBS portfolio.
