About this event
This November, for EEC's one year anniversary, let's all get together as friends fighting for an equitable school system in St. Louis. Let's refuel together, celebrating our growing community.
What:
We Made It: A Fundraising Event and Celebration! will take place on November 18th at The Magic House @MADE from 6-8:30pm. Look forward to some fun activations curated by EEC Alumni (The Lit Shop, STEAMasters, and Black Girls Do STEM) and plenty of things to make, eat and drink. But most importantly, there will be a beautiful community of anti-racist educators and advocates to connect with!
Get inspired by our featured speaker, Dr. Sharonica Hardin-Barley, University City Schools Superintendent. Then get creative using MADE's 3D Printer, Puzzlemaker, Lego Buffet, Laser Cutter, Drawing area, and Rocket Maker! All while sipping Four Hands brews & hearing dope tunes by DJ Crim Dolla Cray.
Who:
Our (adult) friends in education equity! We love the kids, but this event is meant for those over 18. No need to dress up, come in your play clothes and wear closed toe shoes! We also ask that all event attendees be fully vaccinated against covid-19 & wear a mask while indoors and not actively eating or drinking.
Why:
We believe in empowering educators and administrators to be the changemakers in their school, districts and communities. The horrifying racial inequities abundant in our education system are unsustainable for a thriving St. Louis. Supporting our organization helps to shift the direct impact of inequity in districts, schools and classrooms by facilitating workshops, programs and transformational team processes with educators at both individual and institutional levels to increase the anti-racist analysis of educators in the St. Louis region.
Tickets:
Tickets are "Pay What You Wish" with a suggested donation of $100. This helps us cover our event costs, while still keeping the event accessible to all in our community.
Our Sponsors:
Special thanks to our sponsors: The Magic House, Maxine Clark, BioSTL, WePower STL, Four Hands Brewing & Gladiator Consulting!
About EEC:
The Education Equity Center of St. Louis envisions a transformed education system that is free of racism and harmful practices, policies and systems negatively impacting black and brown students. To that end, we build the anti-racist leadership capacity of educators through intersectional and collaborative events, workshop series, DEI cohorts, and intensive fellowships. Our work amplifies the collective voice of educators and encourages connected partnerships between students, families and organizations across the region. Learn more at edequitycenter.org
