EVERY 2nd Thursday of the month!

InspiredWordNYC (creator/producer of the Queens Lit Fest) Presents We Heart NYC Writers Night + Open Mic at The Parkside Lounge, one of the coolest performance spots in Manhattan's East Village.

This is a celebration of emerging and established New York City writers of all types - poets, novelists, journalists, short story writers. Shows feature carefully selected writers of note, especially those with recently released books/chapbooks or new work on its way to a book/chapbook, as well as a 12-slot open mic (6-minute time limit, for writers of all types and spoken word poets).

Signed books will be available for purchase - a great chance to show local literary love.

Cover Charge: $6 online for non-open mic'ers, $8 online to guarantee an open mic slot, $7 at the door.

Make sure to bring a printed out version of your ticket/tickets or be prepared to show your ticket/tickets (with confirmation number) on your phone. Also, bring a valid ID, as this is a strict 21+ venue.

Featured Writers for Nov. 10:

Special Guest: Scottish poet Niall Campbell’s first book, Moontide, won the Edwin Morgan Poetry Prize, the largest such prize in the UK, was named the Saltire Scottish First Book of the Year, and was shortlisted for both the Fenton Aldeburgh and Forward prizes for best first collection. PUP is publishing First Nights—which includes all the poems in Moontide and sixteen new ones. The collection is part of the Princeton Series of Contemporary Poets, edited by Susan Stewart.

Ally Malinenko is the author of the poetry collections The Wanting Bone, How To Be An American (Six Gallery Press), and Better Luck Next Year (LowGhost Press) as well as the novel This Is Sarah (Bookfish Books). Her newest chapbook I'll Be So Still You Won't Even Notice Me is available from Epic Rites Press. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband. Her website is

Christopher Lilley, a New York native, is a poet, a writer, a singer and multi-instrumentalist. As a poet, he has performed in several famed spaces such as the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and the Bowery Poetry Club, as well as in venues across the country. He seeks to begin community dialogues on topics that have been labeled as taboo or shameful, with a focus on bringing mental health awareness to black, Christian, and otherwise marginalized communities. His writing most often reflects his love for God, his love for blackness, and his love for the hurting. He says that his writing seeks to encompass everything that he is. When he is not writing, he teaches music and voice lessons in inner city schools. Chris is also part of True Voices, a spoken word poetry collective originating in New York City, that now spans the Eastern Seaboard. He is a member of the New York Chapter.

Jenny Williamson is a poet, fiction writer, actress, and model living in New York City. She acted at the Globe Theatre in London, and has worked as a commercial actress, voiceover artist, and print model in New York City for seven years. She has read frequently at New York venues including the Poetry Brothel, Lyrics, Lit & Liquor, Urbana, and Louder Arts, and her work has been published in the East Coast Literary Journal, Blue Monday Review, Vox Poetica, Burningwood Literary Journal, and The Stone Highway Review, among others. Her first chapbook, Collection of Flaws in a Black Dress, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2016. Her website can be found @ website:

Jixi Fox is a writer, free verse & spoken word artist from New York City. He has been writing creatively since his college years at Lehman College, in which he fell in love with theatre, and performing arts in which most of his writings are based on storytelling and acting out his pieces to entertain a crowd. Over the years after college Jixi has worked with YouTube & WordPress getting his words to the world, and encourage the community to write and be their self. Jixi now working and finishing his book "Nemesis" as well as a short film.
